JUNKYARD JEWELS

The concept for this series came about while photographing the backroads of South Carolina. There is just something about old cars. I think it is because I see the character in an old car. By that I mean something about the model of car and the time it came from but also about the owner of the car seems to stay attached even when the car has been discarded.

The exteriors are always interesting to me, the interiors even more so. How could I not want to photograph the old car with the carpet remnants in the floor and shag carpet on the dashboard! What stories they tell! Some people stop for garage sales thinking to find a bargin or something "special"- I stop for old rusty vechicles - they really are my junkyard jewels.
